Amida is currently looking for a Data Engineer to join our team. The Data Engineer must have considerable experience in designing and building scalable data pipelines for extracting, processing and ingesting large volumes of data. In this role you will provide data engineering expertise to our team as we develop a custom solution for our client, a large healthcare organization. You will help with the business development activities and will be responsible for describing data engineering solutions in our proposals. What you will do:

  • Design, develop and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ingest data from various sources including APIs and databases into a data warehouse or data lake.
  • Perform data quality checks and data governance procedures to ensure data integrity, accuracy and consistency.
  • Generate and optimize SQL queries and data processing workflows to enhance the performance and scalability of data processing pipelines.
  • Implement and adhere to data security measures to protect sensitive information and ensure compliance with data privacy requirements.
  • Collaborate with data analysts, scientists and business stake holders to understand data requirements that will inform the data pipeline development process.
  • Communicate technical ideas simply and effectively to non-technical clients and stake holders using architecture diagrams, PowerPoint slides, shared documents, etc.

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of recent professional experience in software development, data architecture, data engineering, data analysis or data science.
  • Bachelors Degree in a field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Database Engineering, or Management Information Systems.
  • Proficiency with Python and one or more programming languages such as Java, Scala or SQL.
  • Experience working with big data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop and MapReduce.
  • Experience with version control and software development collaboration tools such as Git and GitHub.
  • Experience with database systems and data warehousing technologies such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Amazon Redshift, Microsoft SQL Server, etc.
  • Experience using resources in cloud environments such as AWS or Azure.
  • Experience working with Delta Lake and other file storage formats including CSV, JSON and Parquet.
  • Must have strong problem-solving and analytical skills to troubleshoot issues across the data pipeline and optimize data processes.
  • Ability to communicate ideas concisely and effectively with software engineers and clients.
  • Ability to work with the federal government and be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working for the Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Experience building and deploying MLOps pipelines
  • Experience with CI/CD
