Reader Analytics team is responsible for providing actionable insights and data products to empower stakeholders to monitor and assess performance of their product areas and support their roadmap. This position will partner with teams across the Kindle Experience organization to improve reporting frameworks and data visualization, articulate insights using data, identify instrumentation gaps, and build metrics and business cases to improve decision making. You can expect to leverage your analytical skills and have full ownership of your projects. 

The ideal candidate will have excellent statistical and analytical abilities, outstanding business acumen, and strong storytelling skills. They are a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, able to think big and be creative (while paying careful attention to detail), and enjoy working in a fast-paced dynamic environment. To be successful in this role, you should have broad skills in database design, be comfortable dealing with large and complex data sets, have experience building self-service dashboards and using visualization tools, while always applying analytical rigor to solve business problems, and parse actionable insights. 

Key job responsibilities 
 

  • Lead complex and ambiguous data analysis projects to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization
  • Design and conduct analysis with a high bar to provide timely insights, recommendation on business strategies and tech solutions
  • Break down large projects into smaller deliveries, while identifying and tackling items on critical path
  • Write high quality, optimized and reproducible SQL to retrieve and analyze data from relational databases (ex. Redshift, MySQL, S3)
  • Mentor and guide junior team members in data analysis, coding best practices, and process improvement methodologies
  • Work closely with product managers, engineers to build ETLs for clean and scalable data sources required for analytics and reporting
  • Employ AWS technologies to increase team efficiency and BI capabilities
  • Drive seamless data/reporting and insights to enable data backed decision making, and drive leadership clarity around business metrics by enabling MBRs/QBRs/OP1 discussions
  • Assist in the development and execution of strategic initiatives and analytical roadmaps

development, blockers and help troubleshoot issues

  • Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership
  • Master's degree in statistics, data science, or an equivalent quantitative field

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $117,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
